This device is perfect for burst-heavy and low latency traffic alike due to its 1 MB buffer on each port. The WS-X6516A-GBIC is compatible with Cisco Catalyst 6503, 6506, 6506 chassis, 6509, 6509 chassis, 6509-NEB and 6513 devices. The WS-X6516A-GBIC has Cisco Express Forwarding which allows this switch to boast an amazing performance of 256 Gbps and a 30 Mpps per system forwarding rate. This Cisco switch module comes with unpopulated slots meaning you can pick and choose which kinds of GBIC port devices you want to use.
