The Cisco Catalyst 6500 Express Forwarding 720 Interface Module (WS-X6748-GE-TX) supports both Cisco’s proprietary Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP) and the Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) which ensures greater availability when routers fail, regardless whether the nodes in question were Cisco devices or not. The WS-X6748-GE-TX48 offers 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports which helps with large data transfers and improves connectivity for network admins. Other special features include, a 40Gbps interconnection to the Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series Supervisor Engine 720’s switch fabric-ideal for high-demand, high-density Gigabit Ethernet requirements across all 48 ports.
